The SecondLookTM Dental Anesthesia mobile application will help learners of the dental sciences to self-test their level of knowledge about common local anesthesia techniques and procedure that are used in standard dentistry. This app covers the following topics: Maxillary Nerve Blocks; Mandibular Nerve Blocks; Akinosi and Gow-Gates Blocks; Calculations and Complications; and Intrapulpal, Periodontal Ligament (PDL) and Infiltration Injections. The procedures are reviewed in a stepwise fashion including potential complications and limitations, as well as different anesthetic agents and dosage calculations.

About the Authors:

Drs. Moody, Morrison, and Shahzada graduated with a DDS degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and are now serving their patients in private practice. Dr. Marti is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/HD; Periodontics and Oral Medicine; and Cariology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

The SecondLookTM Dental Anesthesia Lite application with representative sample slides can be downloaded for free. The full five set mobile application can be purchased for $4.99. All proceeds go to the University of Michigan.

Content Updates:

From time to time these apps may be updated with revised content. The SecondLookTM Dental Anesthesia app will display a prompt if new updates are available for download. Tapping "Update" will cause the slide decks to be updated.

Features:

The Michigan Dental Anesthesia SecondLookTM series consists of five slide sets, which cover several dental anesthesia techniques, as well as different clinical scenarios that are commonly encountered in dental practices. The five sets cover Maxillary and Mandibular Nerve Blocks, Akinosi and Gow-Gates Blocks, as well as Intrapulpal, Periodontal Ligament and Infiltration Injections. One sets deals with Calculations for proper drug dosage and possible Complications of dental anesthesia procedures.
